HIIT The Gym!

Losing weight, keeping weight off, and just staying fit in general can be a very frustrating and challenging. One of the biggest factors that can affect this challenge is time. We are all busy with other life related issues such as working, social aspects, and schoolwork, especially if you are a fulltime student at a 2 year junior college or a 4 year university. All these time related issues can affect your gym or workout time and can be cut in half or cut out completely out of your daily routine. This brings up the question: How do I implement a workout on days I have limited time?

There are two types of exercise people fall into when they workout. The type of is moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT). This type of training includes workouts such as going on long runs or long bike rides. This also known as one the traditional training methods in controlling weight loss. MICT can be beneficial towards weight loss and maintaining weight, however the efficiency with respect to time suffers here because this type of training is usually prolonged.

This brings us to the second type of exercise which is also the answer to our first question stated recently, and that is high intensity interval training (HIIT). HIIT is another way to lose or maintain weight. It has proven that HIIT can lead to decreases in whole body fat masses with as much as 40% less training time commitment. It also has shown to high a significant decrease in  weight or fat loss after just twelve to twenty-four weeks of this type of training. To add, this also can lead to physiological changes that can increase in metabolism, allows your body to burn energy from food at much faster rate.

Losing weight and staying fit can be a challenge from time to time, but with the time efficient effects of HIIT, we can make this problem much less challenging. So lets get out there and “HIIT” the gym!
